Doula Services

As your doula, I will be available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for support and ready at a moment’s notice when your “birth” day arrives. You can contact me as often as you like to answer your questions. Prior to the birth, I will come to your home for your prenatal visits. At the first visit, we discuss in detail your birth wishes and answer any questions. At the second visit, we review comfort measures and go over “birth” day activities. Additionally, I will provide you education and relaxation techniques to help prepare you for your birth.

When that day comes, I will meet you at your home and labor with you until it’s the right time to go to your birth location like the hospital or birth center. I am there to provide educational, emotional and physical support. I will also help in providing pertinent information that will allow you to make informed decisions so you can best advocate for yourself and your baby. I will stay with you continuously throughout your birth experience. After your baby arrives, I will stay until breastfeeding is established and you and your baby are settled. 

I also provide one to two postpartum visits. The first visit is within the first week of your delivery. Its purpose is to provide you an opportunity to process your birth experience. 

Birth can be a very surreal process and you will likely have questions that need to be answered after your birth. I will answer those questions as well as any you may have in regard to newborn care or breastfeeding. This visit lasts at least one hour and is done in the comfort of your home.

The 2nd visit is scheduled within four weeks of your delivery and is approximately 2 hour postpartum follow up visit. Many new moms struggle secretly with postpartum related issues involving breastfeeding, lack of sleep and emotions. Your doula is trained to recognize the signs and symptoms associated with “normal” postpartum recovery and will help you to navigate this new experience and the emotions associated with it. During this session it is also likely that your baby will come to the breast at least once and I will be there to assist you in either confirming that things are going smoothly or to troubleshoot any issues that may have been revealed.
